Men's Yoga 101

A six-week yoga workshop designed specifically for men — and a genuine revenue opportunity for your studio.

The underserved market in your studio

Most yoga studios are 70–80% female. That's not because men don't benefit from yoga — it's because most yoga classes aren't designed with men in mind. Standard cues don't always work for male bodies. Standard classes don't address the ego dynamics that make men uncomfortable as beginners. And most men, facing a room full of women who seem to know exactly what they're doing, simply don't come back after the first class.

Men's 101 is designed to fix that. It's a six-week workshop built specifically around how men move, what men need to hear, and what it takes to get a man not just into a yoga class but genuinely hooked on the practice.

For your studio, it's a turnkey program that brings in a demographic you're currently underleveraging — and converts them into long-term students.

What makes Men's 101 different

Built for the male body

Men typically carry tightness in the hips, hamstrings, and lower back — and standard yoga cues often don't account for male anatomy. Men's 101 teaches modifications and prop use that work with how men actually move, not against it.

Addresses ego directly

Men want to look competent. Jim teaches them that props and intelligent modifications are exactly what experienced practitioners use — and that good alignment with a block beats a collapsed pose every time. Men leave knowing how to walk into any class and hold their own.

Physically challenging

This is not a gentle introduction. Men's 101 leans into upper body strength, balance, and the kind of physical effort men respond to. They'll be surprised how hard it is — and even more surprised by how good they feel coming out of savasana.

Six weeks, one session at a time

Each session follows a consistent structure: a short lecture on anatomy or technique, focused pose breakdown, and a flowing sequence that builds on everything taught so far. Participants receive a weekly practice guide to take home. By the end of six weeks, men have been exposed to vinyasa, hot yoga, and yin — and can walk confidently into any style of class.

Want to share details with your participants before the workshop begins? We have a page just for them — what participants need to know

Week 1

Foundation

The basics of alignment, breath, and how to use props. Introduction to the Men's 101 philosophy: modify intelligently, use props confidently, build from the ground up.

Week 3

Strength and upper body

Where men often have a genuine advantage. Arm balances, core work, and poses that reward upper body strength — the class where most men realize they're better at this than they thought.

Week 5

Yin yoga

The hardest week for most men. Long-held passive poses targeting connective tissue — and a lesson in why stillness and surrender are their own kind of strength.

Week 2

Hips and lower back

The area where most men feel most limited. Targeted poses, modifications, and props that actually work for male hip anatomy — and why forcing flexibility never works.

Week 4

Hot yoga

An introduction to the Bikram/hot yoga format — what to expect, how to pace yourself, and why the heat changes everything. Taught in a heated space if available.

Week 6

Integration

A full flowing sequence drawing on everything from the previous five weeks. The class where it all comes together — and where most men decide they're coming back.

A seventh makeup session is available for participants who missed a week. Students who attended all six sessions are welcome to join for a small additional fee.

About Me

I have practiced yoga for over twenty years and have been teaching for fifteen. I am based in Boulder and have taught extensively throughout the Boulder and Denver yoga community.

Over years of teaching men specifically, I have developed a deep understanding of how male anatomy interacts with yoga — where men struggle, where they excel, and what it actually takes to keep a man coming back after the first class. I knows the ego dynamics, the physical limitations, and the specific moment in savasana when something shifts and a skeptic becomes a practitioner.

Men's 101 is built entirely from that experience. It is not a generic beginner class relabeled for men. It is a program designed from the ground up around how men actually move, think, and respond to physical challenge.
